KITCHEN
The primary focus of this kitchen design was to enhance functionality while nurturing togetherness. Natalie & Maja approached the design with the guiding question: “How can we create a welcoming environment that can encompass everyone?” The homeowner is a restaurant owner, and their family often cooks and bakes as a family activity. The design of the eleven-foot butcher block island becomes an anchoring destination for their four kids. As the children grow older, they have the option to transition to the adjacent dining room, seamlessly connecting the culinary experience with dining and family gatherings.

COFFEE STATION
Brass plays a strong role in this renovation, and this was a very intentional decision. According to Maja, “We went with brass because it’s timeless and adds warmth. We wanted an organic feel through the space, and since we went with a cooler stone we wanted to maximize the warmth through the finishes.”

DINING ROOM
The dining room was thoughtfully redefined to create a seamless connection with the kitchen, designed for hosting lively dinner parties and offering various seating options within an open concept. Fun fact: this space was originally the living room, transformed to better accommodate the family’s needs. The brass accents are carried into this space, enhancing the overall ambiance. However, the true highlights are the custom fabric and the striking Cipollino Ondulato marble fireplace, both of which infuse the organically neutral palette with warmth and character.

DEN
The vision for this space was simple; with four children it’s a playroom that can grow alongside the family. The millwork is key in the evolution from playroom to study as the kids get older. The design also needed to lend itself to flexibility, a space that everyone could enjoy. Whether it’s a quiet morning spent sipping coffee in a cozy chair, children immersed in reading, building with Lego, or doing homework, the room offers a perfect setting for each activity. The cheerful color palette, complemented by brass and walnut accents, echoes the flow of the home, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere that feels both timeless and dynamic.

As we wrap up our exploration of Off Broadway, it’s clear that Natalie and Maja have masterfully blended creativity and functionality by keeping the homeowners top of mind through every decision, and clearly envisioning how each space will be used. Their innovative vision invites us to step beyond the ordinary and embrace a new narrative within design. Whether you’re a seasoned décor enthusiast or simply looking for inspiration, we hope this journey has sparked your imagination and encouraged you to see beauty in every corner. Stay tuned for more exciting projects and design insights in the new year! And remember—there’s always a story waiting to be told in every room.
Happy holidays!
